“Hi to all my church friends. We made it to Michigan the Wednesday evening before the Memorial Holiday.  I went to the eye doctor here last Thursday, June 10th and I have to go back the 22nd.  I still have some swelling in my eye and the vision needs to come thru better yet.  Hope you are all well and doing okay.  God’s Blessings be with you all and keep your love flowing.”

Your input (and patience) as we go forward together in the Lord is appreciated!   Pastor

Thank You

To the Faith Lutheran Church Family:

Food For The Poor wishes to thank you for the welcome you extended to Pastor Hansen on his recent visit to your parish. On behalf of our less fortunate brothers and sisters of Latin America and the Caribbean, we thank you for having shared in their lives. They, and you, are blessed by your generosity.

In Christ,

The Food For The Poor Family

Thank you so much for the warm welcome you extended to us when we visited Faith Lutheran recently. It was great to meet everyone and share about God's mission in Guinea, West Africa. Thanks also for the offering you collected to support our work and for your prayers - you are a blessing to us!

Living in the Love of Jesus,

Jack, Cathy, Raymond, & Hannah Carlos

Update on Beach Party

A great time was had by all of the 45 people who attended the party last Sunday.  Special thanks to Bob W., Bob P. Larry B. and Jim C. for grilling all the burgers and dogs.  Thanks also to Betty and Kay for all their help.  The other church group helped us out by taking all our left over cooked burgers, hot dogs and chips.  Those kids just devoured them ALL!  It was wonderful to see all the people in the water and one sleeping on the beach!  After taking out the costs of the barbeque, we now have an additional $315.00 to add towards our summer bills.

It seems small, but every bit helps and it certainly was a fun way to raise money!

Hope we can do it again.  Lenore and Jim Conenello

Evangelism Help

If you would like to help with projects such as packing and mailing boxes to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, gather and deliver school supplies for our local needy school children, call visitors with a welcoming follow-up phone call, input attendance information into the church’s computer (Shepherd’s Staff) or take a turn at the Welcome Center, please call

Pat Walther (941) 639-7536 or Kathy Page (941) 505-0920.

These are just a few of the things you can do if you join the Evangelism Committee.

Thrivent News:  REMINDER FOR ALL THRIVENT MEMBERS
In you Spring 2010 edition of Thrivent magazine there is a postcard asking you to vote for one of ten charitable organizations.  This must be mailed by May21 so if you have not mailed it back yet, do it TODAY.  These votes will determine how much Thrivent donates to each of these ten organizations in 2010 based on the percentage of votes that they receive. At the end of May a percentage of members will receive a letter about a new program involving Thrivent Choice Dollars.  This program replaces Care in Congregations which in past years has directed over one thousand dollars per year to Faith Lutheran Church.  In the new program you can direct your Choice Dollars to Faith Lutheran Church by adding Faith Lutheran, Punta Gorda to the list of choices.  Watch for further announcements once these letters arrive in the mail.  This program is separate from the one that you have chosen on your postcard.  Not all members will receive letters as they are based on your involvement in Thrivent.  Both programs are new for 2010.

Address Changes & Keys

If you’re headed north for the summer please notify the office so I can make the changes to your record.  If you have a different email address up north, that can be changed so you’ll stay in the loop. Also, if anyone has a key to Zalman Hall that you won’t be needing for the summer, please turn it in to either Carol or Pastor. We’re running short of keys. Thank you. Carol

Communion Statement
Holy Communion
The Lord's Supper is celebrated in the confession and glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread and wine, but His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another!  Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us.  If you are in doubt, have questions, or have a different confession than above, please speak with the pastor or an elder before the worship service.
